(January 23, 2012) -- Good wins for Lightning basketball on the road last weekend in Lacombe vs. Canadian University College. Our women dominated the first year CUC program with a convincing 77-20 victory. Great team play and a good defensive effort propelled the team to their first ACAL victory of the season.

On the men's side, a rematch of the 2011 ACAL championship game saw St. Mary's emerge victorious in an 88-76 battle. Up by 28 in the third quarter, the Lightning saw CUC make a run to get the game all the way down to a four-point difference. The always loud and raucous CUC crowd was rocking as it seemed the Aurora would keep rolling. But a determined Lightning team made big plays down the stretch to keep the lead and put CUC away on an emotional night for the men.
