St. Mary’s University College is a Catholic liberal arts and science institution authorized by the Province of Alberta to offer Bachelor of Arts degrees in the areas of History, English (3-year and 4-year degrees), General Studies and Psychology. The University College plans to expand its disciplinary degree programs while at the same time continuing its very successful liberal arts and sciences program in which students complete up to two years of study at St. Mary's before finishing degree programs at other post-secondary institutions.

The University College also offers a post-degree Bachelor of Education (Elementary) degree designed to prepare teachers to serve in Catholic elementary schools.

St. Mary’s 60 full- and part-time faculty members offer courses in 33 different academic disciplines including the social sciences, humanities, mathematics, the natural sciences, human kinetics and theology. Faculty members are expected to be excellent teachers and to be actively engaged in scholarly research.

Enrolment in September 2009 is approximately 600 students on a campus that is situated on a park-like 40-acre site in the southern part of the City of Calgary.
